The search is on for a driver that hit a man and left him to die in the middle of the street. The hit-and-run happened around 11pm Saturday night in north Houston on Link near Airline. Police say the victim was riding his bicycle when he was hit by a pickup truck. The truck kept going and the cyclist died from his injuries. Right now police do not have a description of the truck involved.

Officers said that days after the accident, Torres contacted investigators and said he was the driver who struck the bicyclist. Torres was arrested without incident and then charged. Police said Torres was driving along the 700 block of Link Road in the late-night hours Sept. 27 when he hit Jose Benjamin Mendez-Manzano, 63. According to Houston police, Eduardo Luna Torres, 30, has been charged with failure to stop and render aid involving death in connection with an incident Saturday night that left bicyclist Jose Benjamin Mendez-Manzano, 63, dead.
